Every journey begins with a first step!
I live in Derbyshire, England.
I have been suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for the past six and a half years. For the first three years i was virtually bed ridden. Life was pretty dull and depressing. In August 2011 my mother, who is sadly no longer with us, suggested I tried painting - I have never looked back.
The most amazing thing happened almost immediately - my eyes were opened to the world. The beauty of nature and life that surrounds us is quite awe inspiring and so many of us never notice it.
Although my health is still be pretty poor, I have been blessed with the most wonderful distraction!
My subject matter is varied but I lean towards landscapes, space and life art.
I strongly believe you should never compromise on quality.
With this in mind, I only use artist quality paints and canvasses.
Using only lightfast, high pigment strength paints means that my artworks will retain their vibrant colour and not fade over time.My preferred mediums are oils and acrylics. I only use artist quality paints and canvasses ensuring my finished artwork doesn't fall apart in years to come.
The choice of canvas is equally important in my book. I tend to use medium weight, cotton canvas.
I look for a consistent weave and only buy stretched canvas on thick robust frames that are resistant to warping.
